Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our campers are built in our factory based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. We endeavour to source materials locally where we can and use other local companies for welding our chassis, powder coating and printing our graphics.

  • The chassis is made out of Australian box steel by local fabricators to our specifications. They are then fully coated using a special coating by Raptor Coatings Australia. You can watch a video on this product in our Videos section.

The body and internal cabinetry are cut out on our CNC router using a high quality Birch plywood imported from Finland. Three coats of UV resistant marine satin lacquer are applied to the internal and some external surfaces giving it a beautiful hard-wearing finish.

We also CNC cut parts for our roof rack brackets, gas bottle holder and decal badges using high quality machine grade aluminium.

We use our CNC laser cutter for acrylic parts such as the switch plate bezels and badges.

The exterior walls, roof, hatch and front box are skinned with aluminium composite panel available in various colours and finishes. We also offer a vinyl wrap finish with an ever growing choice of designs or we can use your own!

You can have a look at our vinyl graphic choices under the Options section on our website.

  • Most small vehicles can tow one of our teardrop campers. We can fit electric brakes if required. For example a Ford Focus has a towing capacity between 1000 - 1400KG braked. You can always let us know your vehicle make and we can check its towing/braked capacity for you.

  • Ideally you should have an Anderson plug fitted to your car. This allows the teardrop campers battery to be charged whilst it is being towed.

If your vehicle needs to have a brake controller we suggest you use an ElecBrake controller. The main advantage to this brake controller is that it does not have to be hard wired to your vehicle meaning that in the event that you should sell the vehicle you will not need to have it removed or buy a new brake controller for your new vehicle. The ElecBrake brake controller is fitted to the ‘A’ frame on the front of the teardrop campers chassis.

You can watch a short video on ElecBrakes in our Videos section.

A flat 7 pin connector is fitted to the teardrop camper trailer for lights, indicators and electric brakes. Your vehicle will require a flat 7 pin socket on a new install or if you have an existing round pin configuration you will need a flat 7 pin adaptor.

A standard 50mm tow ball is required to fit the teardrop campers hitch.

  • Our teardrop camper trailers operate on both 240volt AC power and 12volt DC power, similar to your home and vehicles electrical power systems. For the 12volt DC system we provide a 125Amp hour Lithium battery and charging system.

Your teardrop camper can be powered on a camp site via the camp sites power outlets. This will provide 240volt power to your camper trailer via the 240volt power inlet located on the side of the camper trailer. This will provide power to all of the GPO’s and the 12volt system. Whilst connected to 240volt power, you can use 240 volt appliances such as toasters, hairdryers, coffee makers etc, have all the lights on, watch movies, listen to music without having to worry about running out of power!

If you camp at an unpowered site you will be running the teardrop camper from the 12volt DC system ie the 125Amp hour battery. Depending on the length of stay some power management may be required. The following methods can be adopted:

Charging your teardrop camper before setting off on an adventure using the 240volt inlet.

Charging your teardrop camper via the Anderson plug whilst on the move. This plug is connected to your vehicles battery and the vehicles alternator charges the Lithium battery. You will need to have this installed by an auto electrician. This can be wired at the same time as your tow ball is being fitted.

Charging your teardrop camper using a portable/fold down solar panel/s. The panels can be plugged into the solar input Anderson plug located at the front of the ‘A’ frame on the trailer and have a 5 meter cable attached to enable you to locate the panel/s a distance away from your camper trailer meaning you can park in shade where possible. We think this is the best way to use solar panels as they can be tilted on their stands to face the sun’s rays . We do not attach solar panels to the roof or fronts of our teardrop camper trailers as we do not think this is the best position for them and they can be subject to dirt build up and damage.

These are an option we can supply you with on or after the purchase of your teardrop camper. We recommend using solar panels manufactured by Enerdrive the same company as the electrical system. You can look at our recommended solar panels in our Options section.

  • We install a Furrion digital media player in our Splendour GT model. This system allows you to listen to radio stations, CD’s, and audio streamed via a bluetooth device such as your phone or tablet or from a USB stick. It also allows you to watch movies either on DVD or from a USB stick. The entertainment system has 2 speaker zones, one for inside the cabin and the other for the kitchen galley area providing music to outside. It comes with a infra red remote and you can also install an App on your phone or tablet to make the whole system work via bluetooth so you don’t have to leave the comfort of your chair to control your music.

We also install a high quality LED flip down screen that is attached to the ceiling, great for when you want to watch something and great for when you want to get it out of the way!

  • Yes you can.

The doors have built in fly screens and the outer doors can be opened to provide cross ventilation. The doors can be locked in either configuration. They are locked using dead locks in three positions. You can see images of the doors in our Gallery section.

  • We fit insulation into both the roof and hatch cavities to keep the cabin cool in summer and warm in winter. It also provides some sound insulation.

We also fit a remote infra red controlled roof fan which has various forward and reverse speeds. On some models a rain sensor is fitted which will automatically close the roof hatch if it detects rain saving bedding from getting wet.

As mentioned before the doors have built in fly screens allowing for cross ventilation.

Another option is a Transcool evaporative cooler which plugs into a provide 12volt socket. These are available in our Options section.

  • Yes you can fit a roof rack but we will have to install it in our factory at the time of construction. We install 6mm pre tapped plates into the roof cavity to ensure our custom roof rack brackets can withstand the loads put on them. Please note that if any other roof rack is fitted, it will void the structural warranty.

Please note that our roof racks are designed to carry a maximum load of 65kg for the pair.

  • Our mattress size in our teardrop camper trailers are slightly smaller than a Queen-size by a few centimetres. They are made from one piece of memory foam and have a removable sleeve fitted.

  • We have a range of standard colours for your teardrop camper using aluminium composite panel as the substrate.

We also offer a range of fantastic graphic designs which are printed onto high quality vinyl and bonded onto the sides and front box sides of your camper trailer. This will really make your teardrop camper stand out from the crowd! The vinyl has a life span of approximately seven years.

We are happy to work with you to realise your own design if you have something in mind.

You can see our selection of colours and graphic designs in our Options section.

  • Our models are capable of travelling on sealed, graded unsealed roads and short journeys on dirt roads to reach your destination. You should treat your camper as you would your 2WD vehicle.

Please note that our 2 year structural warranty will be voided if you travel on 4WD tracks more surfaces not suitable for 2WD vehicles.

  • We offer a 2 year structural warranty on our campers and a 1 year warranty on all third party components such as the entertainment system, LED monitor etc.
